How do you sweep private keys for paper wallets?

I've been trying to get my coins off of my paper wallet using the mobile app. Once I enter my password for the paper wallet it goes back to the main wallet page and doesn't sweep my wallet. I've also tried using the core wallet on my desktop using the console and still no luck. Am I doing something wrong?
