My true thoughts on Cardano
Long time holder here
Never thought I’d be writing this but here we are.
Cardano today is not where I thought it would be when I first bought in January 2021.
At the time we were sold on the idea that Cardano would “change the world” and that we would “bank the unbanked”
Today we are no closer to that vision in my opinion.
Don’t get me wrong. I’ve had some personal success working with projects early on writing content and such. It’s now my full time job.
But I’ve been immensely disappointed by progress on many fronts including scaling, native USDC, support for content creators like myself, and overall lack of support for builders.
I also thought that governance would be the thing that really brings Cardano forward. But it’s brought a ton of infighting
The community always seems to be fighting about what proposal gets funded and what doesn’t. And it’s exhausting. And demoralizing
Catalyst, a grant fund, seems as though it’s been somewhat corrupted by people who know how to work the system to get money to fund unprofitable projects
But that’s a separate issue
I’ve been diversified out of Ada for a while now because of the above reasons and more.
I was a long time, hardcore advocate for Cardano in the early days especially in this subreddit. Now not so much.
In terms of Defi, the rest of the industry has surged way ahead of Cardano and it’s not even close.
I’ve learned a lot since coming into crypto in 2019.
I think the most important lesson I’ve learned is to just try everything and not lock myself down too hard into one place.
I’m grateful for all the opportunities I’ve been awarded nonetheless and especially grateful for all the friendships I’ve made.
At this point I can call some of them my fam.
Those are my raw thoughts on Cardano
