Bruh I just paid $25 (.0055) ETH in Network Gas Fee

Am I doing something wrong? When I looked up the gas fee, currently it was something like $0.44. Obviously I didn't look and I just sent the amount and figured it out after received $25 less than expected. Furthermore, I was going to swap for a coin and the network fee was going to cost me $10. Am I missing something?
