Weekly post : May 1, 2025 : how do you protect your mining rigs.

Welcome to this weekly post !

This time, I'd like to talk about the protections you place around your computer or mining rigs.

As with all expensive hardware, we want to protect it from common problems but we also want to protect our house in case something went bad in that said rig.

I myself use my gaming computer to mine Ravencoin. I got a good UPS to protect from electrical mishaps. And to prevent theft, I keep my doors locked, especially when nobody's at home. Another security measure that is less common is that my computer case and monitors are bolted to a solid wall. So, if someone wants to take my computer they'll need to work hard to get it and I hope they'll let it go as too risky. The last point is that I can use software to track the approximate location of my computer if it is connected to the internet after a theft. I admit this isn't a foolproof solution but not all thieves are geniuses either.

If I had a dedicated mining rig I'd probably put it in a room cool and far from ears (like the basement). Keeping it far from combustible materials. I don't think I'd install a UPS because they are very expensive past a certain capacity but a good surge suppressor should not be neglected.

This week, I'd like to know how you protect your source of Ravencoin. Please make sure not to be too specific in case bad people are reading this post and get the idea to make some quick cash in hardware resell….

Have a nice week !
