Bitcoin: The First and Most Valuable NFT Collection

We often talk about Bitcoin as "digital gold," but I think there's a better way to look at it. Bitcoin is truly unique — not just because of its scarcity, but because every single transaction is permanently recorded on the blockchain. This means Bitcoin isn't completely fungible like gold; every coin has a story, and some are seen as more valuable based on their history.

Think of Bitcoin as the original NFT collection. There will only ever be 21 million whole Bitcoins, and some of them are more valuable than others. For example, coins that have been held since the early days of Bitcoin, untouched, have sentimental and historical value that tainted coins (with a known transactional history) simply don’t. This makes Bitcoin not just a scarce digital asset but a sentimental one too — a collector's item with a history, where its rarity increases with age.

Bitcoin's value, therefore, lies not only in its scarcity but in the unique journey of each coin. Like NFTs, it’s about more than just the asset itself — it's about the story behind it.

What are your thoughts on viewing Bitcoin in this light? Does it change how we perceive its value?
