ETH 2.0 upgrade risks?

I am curious what the risks are as ETH is upgraded over the coming months. I imagine 2 risks… The first is that the upgrade just doesn't go as planned and shit stops working. I feel like this has a low probability, but I don't understand crypto at a technical level so I can't even begin to quantify the risk. The second risk is just that the upgrade is underwhelming. I think this is possible, especially with new chains boasting massive TPS and little to no gas.

I see great excitement in the run-up towards EIP 1559 and ETH 2.0, but a non-zero risk at several key moments along the way. Any thoughts?
