KYC requirements are getting worse and worse over time
I just got an email from Bitrefill telling me that I can access their new crypto debit card feature. As I've been using their services for a long time already, I decided to try it out. Obviously, the feature is locked behind KYC, but what I can't understand, is why there's so much of it. Beside the usual personal data, address, ID card photo, they ask you for the backside of your ID card, as well as a video of yourself moving your face like if you were setting up Face ID. I don't understand how does all that help anyone verify that I'm a real person, at this point, this is just invasion of privacy.
The face video requirement is likely because of the advancements in AI, but if this is what's needed to protect against AI now, how hard is verifying yourself going to be in 5 years?
