Cashing out shitcoins from metamask w/o eth in the U.S.?

If I have some cutecat coin on metamask on the bsc network (or polygon – it doesn't matter), and I'm ready to turn it back in to dollars, is there any way to do this without going through the Ethereum mainnet?

I imagine the first step is swapping the cutecat coin into something more liquid like USDT or TRX or MATIC or MANA or whatever, before sending the USDT to the exchange to sell. But the exchanges I'm familiar with will only let me select the network when sending out from the exchange – but NOT when receiving back into the exchange. And the default networks on the exchanges are Ethereum.

I can avoid high fees when sending to metamask by selecting Arbitrum One or Polygon etc. as the network. But if I send USDT to the exchange on the polygon network or any other network other than Ethereum mainnet, it gets lost. Is there no way to cash out shitcoins in the U.S. without hopping back onto ETH? What's the trick here?
