Almost got scammed

I saw a tweet/x by a pretty big creator saying something like “can’t believe more people don’t know about this” with a screenshot showing big gains suggesting some slick defi opportunity. When I clicked on the link, it described an “arbitrage mev bot” and had a video demonstrating how it worked. The details in retrospect were a little vague but it was quite a convincing video. All you have to do is copy some solidity into the remix IDE and fund the contract with about 0.5-1Eth. Boom 3-8% gains per day

I was actually close to doing it then I thought to look closely at the solidity contract, and well, I noticed a red flag. Mainly, I saw that there were some functions defined and never used. I then pasted it into chatgpt and asked if it was a scam, and it noticed that the interface buttons don’t do what they describe. Instead they’re hooked up to just send all the funds to a specific wallet that was obfuscated in the code by giving the wallet a misleading name. Here’s the wallet it dumps into: https://etherscan.io/address/0xD77b28C77E52c6EdD71cc1D9c984322edd3335cD

I’m so relieved I caught that. Needless to say I had enough skepticism to stop myself from falling for it, but this scam was well-dressed as a defi opportunity, and it freaked me out a bit how close I was to falling for it
