Thoughts on Governance Tokens as Investments?

What's your take on governance tokens from an investment perspective? Do you find them appealing and if so, why? Some examples include UNI, AAVE, LDO, RPL, etc. Personally, I've always leaned towards layer 1 tokens because they are directly tied to the security of their respective networks. Would love to hear your insights!
