How safe is mining?
Hi guys, as the title goes, I am curious to know how safe mining is? Currently working on a new 3070 rig for my gaming and editing so instead of selling my old system, I wanted to mine with it. I3 with an amd 570 8gb. Ravencoin came up as a top 3 coin for my setup. I also purchased some Ravencoin on coinbase. Wanted to know what the safest/best wallet is and what the risk of mining is? My two main concerns with mining are: affecting my computer and computer overheating.
For the affecting my computer portion I have a couple more in depth questions on that. Will it:
Expose my other devices on the same network to threats? IE: I have a laptop that I only store personal pictures and do online shopping with. I have cell phones that connect to the same network as well. Since these devices are on the same network, am I putting my personal devices at risk? I was planning on using unminable as my mining software as it looks pretty easy to setup and use. Unless there is a recommended safer software.
As far as hardware goes, I have a not so great air flow PC case, I have added a good number of fans and adjusted fan curves. How heat intensive does this get? I understand I can adjust settings and such. Is there any program out there that can shut CPU down before overheat failures? Or do I really not need to worry about that? Biggest concern would be burning down house/garage if something were to go wrong. I imagine that's highly unlikely but I'm just looking at worst case scenario.
Let me know what your guys thoughts are. Sorry for the super long post but am excited to get into the world of Ravencoin!
TLDR: How safe is the mining software and am I putting other personal devices that share same network at risk? Will I burn my house down??
