TLDR for the lazy; I sent $50 worth of WETH using the wrong network and Binance is asking for a $100 worth of BUSD as handling fee. This is fully my mistake btw. So I suggest you watch out too.

I guess it does happen, a minor slip up will cost you. It's frustrating. It's not about the amount, but the fact I made a mistake and I can't do anything about it.

I've been in crypto since around early 2020 and had my account with Binance since late 2017, before the bull run even hits. I already did some stuff in defi, BSC shitcoin trading, liquid staking, pooling etc. I was all fine and dandy and I guess I began to overestimate myself. This is the first time I've made a mistake in this space, although it isn't that costly but it sure is frustrating, every dollar counts after all.

So the gist here is that I sold a lot of Gen 3s (yeah I'm not touching any Reddit NFTs again) in OpenSea so I got about $50 worth of WETH, what I did was I tried to send it to my Binance deposit address but Binance only supported ERC20 and Ronin when receiving WETH. I want cheap gas fees of course so I used Polygon but forgot that the address I choose in Binance is in ERC20. I was also doing peer code review while doing this so I guess my mind fucked me over for multi tasking. I can't believe that I, of all people will make such a simple mistake of not using the right network.

This is no doubt 100% my mistake, I'm just a little bit salty that I had my account with them for almost 6 years and there's no leeway or something when stuff like this happens. No way I'm gonna pay $100 worth to retrieve $50.

Here is the TxnID/hash that will forever be in the blockchain representing my utmost stupidity – 0xa7d7d0089668cd14015dd56956b070aa7e82db8a5aafc8165ee27a765a25bf95

So yeah, as a dumb fuck. I suggest you concentrate on the task at hand when doing financial stuff in crypto or it might cost you.

Can't wait for BUSD to depeg to $0.01 so I can buy 100 BUSD for a dollar 🤣🤣🤣
