How does Etherscan show transactions where the wrong type of coin was sent to an address?

There are certain times when the wrong type of coin is sent to an address and therefore the receiving wallet does not actually receive anything. How would Etherscan represent this transaction?

Reason I am asking is bc I've gotten two different answers from Coinbase, first they said that I had to use the asset recovery tool that they provide, next they said that the asset did indeed it my wallet, and they cited Etherscan. But I'm not sure what to believe bc of the conflicting answers.
