The Last Bull Run Saved My Health
Hey all,
In this bear market, there have been so many stories of people’s lives being destroyed following poor investments & scams. I wanted to share a little bit of positivity, and today is a significant anniversary of my biggest personal crypto success story, so it felt like a good day to post this.
I’ve struggled with my weight & health ever since I was a teenager. Having been diagnosed with binge eating disorder, I ballooned up to 225lbs at my worst. I tried everything to lose & maintain a healthy weight. At one point, I used the keto diet to get down to 154lbs, but I couldn’t maintain the diet, and shot back up over 200lbs quickly. Along the way, I tried therapy, medication…everything. My blood pressure was in a dangerous range. I had migraines every day. I woke up most days with no energy, getting no sleep at night.
Along came crypto. I had dabbled in it before, but finally became a serious investor in January 2021. The growth started slow, investing in BTC/ETH, along with numerous alts, including ONE, HOT, CRO, ALGO, LUNA, and others. I hit big on a couple shitcoins, and re-invested that money into more of the top-100 projects. Over that time, I made major profits, putting myself more financially well-off than I had been at any point in my life before that.
Despite all of that success, my weight gain continued. My heaviest weight in my “re-gain” period was 205lbs. I should add that I’m quite short – just 5’5”. It was at this point that I started looking into other solutions, and I landed on the option of getting Bariatric surgery. These surgeries are extremely expensive. Even in Mexico, it was nearly $6000 USD. Being Canadian, that’s nearly $10,000 in my local currency. Thanks to crypto, I had the money to do this.
On May 20, 2022, I underwent bariatric sleeve surgery in Tijuana, Mexico, and I haven’t looked back. As of today, I’ve lost 65.2lbs and have dropped from a BMI of 33.8 to 23.1. I’ve been able to get back to the things I enjoyed prior to my weight re-gain. I go kayaking every week, and take increasingly-difficult hikes. My blood pressure is in a very healthy range, and a lot of the medical issues I had prior to my surgery have completely disappeared.
Absolutely none of this could have happened without crypto. Though I did lose a significant amount of my profits when the bear market hit, I got something absolutely priceless out of the last bull run: health and happiness. No amount of losses could take that away from me.
