Will all dapps need to be rewritten for eth2?

I’ve been trying to find out more information about how eth2 will improve the scalability of eth. With the eth2 white paper, I’m getting closer to the idea that the whole ecosystem would need to be rewritten. Anybody have a clue if this is true? Thanks for your time
