I have lots of Eth in a hard wallet, should I stake?

Idk much about staking and how that works but I have had a ton of eth sitting in my metamask but I saw on coinbase you can earn 4% apy staking?

Are there any cons? Am I crazy for keeping it in a hard wallet? Obv risk coinbase could go under, but assuming it doesn't, will I get 4% eth (or usd?) for staking? how is this paid out?
