Crypto.com warning
Tl;dr: Crypto.com stole my money and won't tell me why. Be warned.
I bought some doge on the crypto.com app a couple months ago. Logged in a few times to check the prices of some other coins but ended up deciding on another exchange. Thank god! A few weeks ago I got a message saying I had "violated their terms" and my account had been closed. I emailed asking why, and meanwhile tried to log in and sure enough, my account no longer existed. Days went by with no response and eventually I got a message saying that my ticket had become inactive and would be closed. I replied immediately and again asked for information, only to get the following reply.
"Hello (airaani),
I hope my email finds you well.
Our relevant department recently performed a review of your account.
After careful consideration, we regret to inform you that your account has been terminated due to a breach of our Terms and Conditions.
No further information can be shared regarding this.
Apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Regards,
The Crypto.com Team"
I responded to this email again requesting literally any information, but never got a response.
So I posted a negative review of the app, warning others. Someone responded to the review asking me to contact support, so I sent a new email, to receive the following response:
"Hello (airaani),
We can't disclose any further details. Please contact your bank. Regards, The Crypto.com Team"
Well unsurprisingly, my bank had no idea what I was talking about and couldn't shed any light on the matter. So I'm here to warn the community at large – not only will they close your account for violating terms, apparently they can do that even if all you did was buy something, and never tell you what it is you supposedly did wrong.
Fortunately the amount I lost was rather small (although it'd be worth some 7x at much if I still had it sigh), but if you have large amounts, I very much encourage you to get it off the platform.
