etherum gas price is is raising like it was bitcoin itself

earlier today it would cost me 50 dollars to get my 23k (swapped 0.553 in october to hex i i am desperately trying to gain my losses) hex token swapped to eth but metamask refused to let me buy it so i had enough for the gas price (really stupid you gan't pay gas with fiat) no matter what so i ended up buying on a swedish exchange and then having it sent to my metamask wallet which took hours, now the gas price has gone from 150 dollars an hour ago to 180, what are the chances it drops to what it was earlier today? i want my 400 dollars worth of ethereum right now and i am scared it'll be 300 by the time the gas price is lower
