Please… don’t mine to a pool in the top 3

Why?

If the top 3 pools have most of the hashrate, they can censor transactions and not include them in blocks. 2miners has 40% of the hashrate, they get control over who gets in what blocks 40% of the time.

Smaller pools have awesome communities. There is a lot more to mining than just set it and forget it. The pool I’m in has an awesome Discord and everyone is super helpful and nice. That’s so much nicer than mining to a giant pool that’s going to just hurt the networks decentralized nature. (In the interest of not being a shill, I unfortunately will not mention the name of the pool I’m in).

51% attacks aren’t common for networks with this much hashrate, but it is worth mentioning that it isn’t very assuring seeing one pool with most of the hashrate.

Mining to smaller pools is like shopping at local businesses. These people are brave enough to work incredibly hard for a slim chance of doing what they love and supporting the network. It’s a rewarding feeling whenever you are supporting individuals rather than companies.
