Geth archive node on HDD

I know on the Geth site it says it's impossible to run Geth using HDD instead of SSD, but is there any unconventional way to do it?

It seems like it should be possible considering Ethereum adds 2.7 MB/s and the HDD writes at 160 MB/s.

Maybe I could turn off some option? Use a different client like Erigon? Develop my own version of Geth that excludes mining or anything unnecessary?

I simply want to be able to query the archive.

If it lags by an hour, it's fine.
