Bridges to L2s, do they all have similar risks?

It crossed my mind recently I didn't know if there were different methods to create bridges between Ethereum and layer 2 blockchains.

Isn't it the case that bridges will be the most lucrative zone to attack for hackers, and if so, how can the ethereum method of scaling cope with this?

The solana wormhole bridge exploit was a disaster. Furthermore, the degree of trust involved in bridge developers is surely a huge problem?

I can see why Vitalk is talking about social tokens representing trust, since we seem to be discovering more and more that supposedly decentralised systems are really controlled by a few people, hence the need for those people to have a type of 'social ranking'.
