Top cryptos by technology development over the past month

Hi everyone! I've been working in the field of alternative data for a long time, and lately I have started researching the cryptocurrency market from a data point of view. Unlike on-chain analytics (like Dune), I'm looking at assets based on their off-chain, alternative, and non-financial metrics. This approach provides an informational advantage and allows to evaluate the market from new perspectives. Together with the team, we've analyzed 7,700 crypto projects from Coinmarketcap, got GitHub links for them, and processed and aggregated development activity data from internal .git files. Most crypto projects are open-sourced, which means that the more active the development is and the more people work on the project – the more mature it becomes from the technological perspective. For your convenience, I have visualized this data in Metabase to share a bunch of interesting insights I found. Here are the top cryptos by the number of active unique GitHub contributors over the past month: Top tickers by number of active contributors over the last month Top 5 tickers by number of active contributors over the last month, stats for 1 year Looks interesting, isn't it? Solana (SOL) and Polkadot (DOT) have been in the public eye for quite a long time – so it's hardly surprising that they are developing actively and have enough engineers to support the projects. But what about TokenPocket, Elrond, and Interner Computer? Let's dive into them. 1. TokenPocket (TPT) – is a trusted multi-chain wallet that supports multi coins. You can store, send and receive your Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), EOS, TRON (TRX), IOST, Cosmos and Binance (BNB) easily. Looking at TPT's development activity chart – in June 2021, they had a dramatic increase in the number of GitHub contributors. It can be due to the fact that starting from the summer of 2021, TokenPocker has started actively integrating with other well-known platforms and payment services. Elrond (EGLD) – is a blockchain protocol that seeks to offer extremely fast transaction speeds by using sharding. The project describes itself as a technology ecosystem for the new internet, including fintech, decentralized finance and the Internet of Things. Number of active contributors for Elrond EGLD shows a constant growth in the number of active contributors – more than 200 engineers have been engaged in developing this project in March. It results in perspective integrations with other platforms and a massive number of accounts (1.61M). One of the latest – Binance integrates Elrond tokens. It's also worth mentioning that EGLD has good enough social performance to compete with other big players(14K Reddit members, more than 60K on Telegram, and 500K! on Twitter): Members of subreddit and Telegram for Elrond Last but not least, Elrond is still raising funds. Skynet EGLD Capital and Binance are the most recent investors (March 31, 2022). 3. Internet Computer (ICP) – is a decentralized blockchain network that was officially launched in May 2021 by the DFINITY Foundation with a global goal to push the boundaries of Internet functionality and support smart contract development at a larger scale. After its launch, the number of active contributors has started actively growing, almost doubling – from 104 in May 2021 to 189 in March 2022. The main reason for it, in our opinion – is their DFINITY Developers Grant Program and own developers forum (which seems to be quite active). Number of active contributors for ICP DFINITY is funded by 16 investors. Broslyn Capital and Cognisa Capital are the most recent investors. It shows a solid social appearance as well: Hope you enjoyed today's analysis! Surprisingly, among strong and popular projects with lots of funding, we can also spot such projects as TokenPocket (TPT) with a price <$0.1, but the same development activity. Are these projects worth investing in? It remains to be seen, but such data insights suggest certain thoughts. And a small bonus – top tickers by development activity of all the time: P.S.
