Security question: Can your computer get infected just by browsing websites?

Is it possible to get infected with keyloggers or other malicious stuff just by visiting phishing/phony websites in my chrome web browser? If you take the precaution of not entering seed phrases, can chrome still unsuspectingly download trackers or keyloggers that can steal your passwords or read files on your computer? Thanks!
