Strange way of using 4gb cards.

Everyone should be aware that 4gb cards won't be able to mine RVN coin when the dag file will grow bigger than 4gb (I think it is due for this summer).

In preparation for the event, I searched what to do with my 4gb card. Flux may be an option but I also found some unexpected posts : for rigs of 4gb cards, it may be possible to continue to use them if you include an 8gb card in the lot. This was a post 2 years old and it was controversial, but many claimed that they were able to continue mining with their 4gb cards in that fashion (it was when ETH dag file went over 4gb).

My questions are : is anyone aware of that trick ? Do you need a particular setup ? AMD and/or Nvidia ? Was it just zombie mode wrongly implemented ?

I would be a surprise if that really works, but there is a slight chance that it works but nobody just tried it yet.
