Does Ethereum still need to go POS?

I’m genuinely curious as to whether Ethereum really needs to go to POS given pulsechain is going to be a copy of ethereum blockchain and from everything I have seen will basically be ethereum blockchain as POS. What arguments could be used to continue down the path to migration away from POW?
