Possibly a stupid question

Will my current Ethereum eventually turn in to Ethereum 2.0? Or is Ethereum 2.0 going to be listed as a new separate crypto currency.

I feel like if Ethereum 2.0 is a separate crypto then lots of people will jump from 1.0 to 2.0.

But then again I’m new to crypto and still learning.
