Help with the basics

So I've done DD on ETH (somewhat late to the party, I know), and was hoping to get advice on the best (safest) wallet, and if I could buy ETH on binance or on another broker and then transfer ETH to my wallet with my own keys, or if it is better to buy ETH on another platform. Also, I've read a little on ETH 2.0 staking, is it worth it?, and advice on how to do it?
