How can I use an L2 to swap ETH without paying major fees

So i want to use my ETH to buy some other ERC20 tokens. I understand I can use a DEX like uniswap to achieve this.

My question is how can I do this while avoid fees. I hear a lot about L2s. Is there a way I can bridge my ETH to an L2, then use Uniswap. Or is there a better method?
