Is there a simple solution that allows execution/settlement on layer 1, but automatically uses layer 2 in between?

I’ve understood a user can manually bridge tokens to and from, for example, Polygon. The question is whether anything has been built to not require manual movements to layer 2 by a user.

Or am I looking in the wrong direction, does the future entail exchanges and platforms adopting the Polygon Main nets of the world?
