Need Opinions: Buy RVN with BTC payouts, or mine RVN directly?

Hello, just wanted to get some opinions from folks here.
I've been mining on NiceHash for a few months, selling some BTC payouts and buying RVN since I'm interested in the project.

Would it be worthwhile to mine RVN directly versus what I'm doing? The fees I'm paying to swap BTCs to RVN is negligible. I don't see the price relationships between BTC/RVN changing a whole lot in the short term.
Which mining pool/miner are popular for RVN?
