Best hardware wallet for EVM based chains? Ledger vs Trezor

I'm looking for a hardware wallet which is supported by metamask, so there are only the Ledger Nano S/X and the Trezor One/T, which one of these would be the best if you do not only want to use it for Ethereum but also for other EVM-based chains and L2s such as Arbitrum/Optimism/Polygon/BSC/…?

If you own one of these, could you please tell me what you have to do in order to switch the network on your Ledger/Trezor?

I will probably use it to execute and deploy some smart contracts myself and I've seen that Trezor apparently doesn't yet support EIP-712, are there any other technical limiations for one of these?
