Have you had Netflix for 5 years?

EDIT 2 This time up top so people read it before they educate me about the point of life. I didn’t say to cancel or go without a single thing, no change in current spending needed. The point was that we painlessly pay for these things every month and doing the same with investing will likely pay off. It’s not that deep.

I’ve been playing with the DCA calculation and accidentally upset myself, so I’m here to upset you.

Netflix at $8 a month for 5 years in BTC instead: – Total invested: $480 – Today’s value: $6,702

Nothing I’ve watched on Netflix is worth almost 7k lol especially not here in Canada where we don’t even have It’s always sunny in Philadelphia.

X-box live sub at $10 for 5 years in BTC instead: – Total invested: $600 – Today’s value: $8,377

That may still have been worth 8k to some of you but I pay for it so my daughter can play Robolox with what I assume is adult men.

I read the average American spends $30/month at Starbucks. So 5 years of $30/month in ethereum instead:

  • Total invested: $1,830
  • Today’s value: $71,461.43

That one hurts because I spend way more on Starbucks than the average American

Edit: holy lol I didn’t say it was a bad thing or to live in a box 😅 just a change of pace from talking about China and buying the dip, my actual point was treating investing like a subscription service wasn’t a bad idea. I didn’t tell you to recycle your piss. And yes, it’s adjusted for price at the monthly date, not just 5 years worth all at once.
