Am I doing this right ?

I had some space available in my home server so I decided to run a full node. I follow instructions at here. I spin up a ubuntu server vm and sync up to date. I looked up to cli commands but could not found anything on open connections. Port 8767 is open listening incoming calls and I forwarded port 8767 to vm (isolated that vm for anyone wondering). Yet I'm not sure if everything okay or not. How can I check ?
