How feasible would it be to incorporate the strengths of other blockchains into Ethereum over time?

For example, proof of history that Solana uses, if it is found to be an effective mechanism… could that be ported into ethereum 2.0? Or other features of other blockchains that might be beneficial… would it be reasonable to expect that ethereum could incorporate those same effective features? Has the dev team historically been open to such changes?
