Sent XYO to ETH address. Did I screw up?

It was my understanding that an ERC-20 token could be sent to an ETH address, but so far it doesn't seem to be the case. I don't know if the support guys for Mew Wallet are dense or intentionally getting smart with me but they keep trying to ask about purchases into the wallet instead of answering the same question I'm asking here.
