Have your RVN mining rewards been decreased significantly lately? Easy explanation.

Tons of people have made posts asking why they are getting less coins daily. This is a legit question and a perfect learning experience for anyone else with the same question.

Let’s say 3 weeks ago you were mining 50 coins per day, and now you are only mining 25 coins per day. You are getting less coins per day, but why?

Mining difficulty has increased significantly. Higher mining difficulty leads to more hashing power needed to mine a block of Ravencoin. Mining difficulty adjusts based on the amount of hashrate that’s being put towards the network in order to keep an average Ravencoin block time of 1 minute.

So if your individual hashrate has not increased at the same rate the network’s total hashrate and difficulty has increased, your rewards will decrease. Your GPU is doing less work now in proportion to the entire network of GPUs, and this gives you less RVN mined per day.

Keep in mind this is a simple explanation, and it’s slightly more complicated than this, but this should get the point across.

This impacts everyone who is mining Ravencoin, not just you. And don’t worry because the recent increase in mining difficulty and network hashrate has come with a substantial increase in RVN price, so you will be earning the same amount of FIAT per day (or possibly more) despite mining less coins.
