questions on Fast sync node.

I cant seem to find the answers for these.
1. can a fast sync node process a transaction or its just use for querying information like data, etc.?
2. does a fast sync node perform full validation after pivot point to chain head just like full node?, or it just download the blocks (bodies and header)

1. what happened after the node is synched (thru fast sync)? does it resume normal operation like validating, synching as if its a full node?
