Global Internet Outage vs ETH 2.0
As titled, I would appreciate some insight about what the expected consequences (namely the risk of slashing) of a global internet outage would be on currently staked ETH. My concern stems from the recent ramping up of the same rhetoric that has preceded many of those manufactured crises that we are now used to. I am specifically referring to the WEF's Cyber Polygon 2021.
My understanding is that validator misbehavior/inactivity is penalized through slashing. So what if the entire internet goes down globally? Likewise, what if the internet only goes down in a specific region of the world, but not others; and/or what if the internet goes back up unevenly across the world?
I get that the risk might seem far fetched as of today. But one thing that recent months have taught us is that tail-risk has become the norm, especially when it is foretold by those exact same institutions and so-called think-tanks. Thanks for your input.
