US resident. How to exchange RVN without being hit for capital gains twice?

Like the title says. Right now it seems the only way to “sell” RVN is to exchange it to a different coin (taxable event) and then either use the coin or “cash out” (also a taxable event). I haven’t even found an exchange market that lets me move RVN from my wallet to their wallet. Binance has been banned in my state, so I can’t go there either. Also, will RVN become easier to work with the more popular it becomes?
