Outside of the crypto community, crypto is still seen as a sham

I made a post a while ago about how i believe crypto is being misunderstood by the general public. I wanted to sort of explain how crypto is not just an investment vehicle in which you place FIAT to get a roi .

The people in that post reacted poorly as i kind of expected. They seem to ignore the technology and only focus on the tokens themselves. They say what value does it produce , it’s just a Ponzi scheme , it is just a method for money laundering or illegal activity. They are pretty much unaware of the actual technology behind the tokens. Therefore they cannot see any value in it.

It makes sense that the most sensationalized aspects of financial life(profit, crime, scams etc) will be all that people see of this technology but it is unfortunate at the same time.

It has made me realize that the marketing of crypto actually sucks. YouTube ads are all about kraken and Coinbase and investing. Creators that become popular are almost always focusing on the trading aspect of crypto. It is like the original ideas of it went out the window as soon as people started gaining popularity for making loads of money, or scamming people. Oddly enough i think now is one of the best times for the message of crypto to be heard. With all that is going on in the various governments of the world people should know that to some extent you can become less reliant on them.

The language of crypto is also so antithetical to gaining popularity with mainstream. The twitter bros speak in abbreviations and market talk , you rarely see a political speaker or a skillful educator talking about the more social and political advantages of crypto . In conclusion i just think crypto is shooting itself in the foot in some ways . I could just be missing what i am looking for though.
