Smart wallet adoption surges with over 11,000 EIP-7702 authorizations within a week of Pectra upgrade

Over 11,000 EIP-7702 authorizations occurred on Ethereum within a week of the Pectra upgrade, signaling strong adoption of smart wallet features.

EIP-7702 allows standard Ethereum accounts (EOAs) to temporarily delegate control to smart contracts, enabling advanced functionalities like batched transactions, gas sponsorship, and multi-signature authentication without requiring users to fully switch to smart contract-based wallets.

WhiteBIT and OKX’s wallets led in authorizations, while MetaMask saw significant delegations despite having fewer overall. The Pectra upgrade also included improvements to Ethereum’s validator operations and Layer 2 scaling.
