Is ETH ready to steal the spotlight from BTC?

I’ve been thinking about this, especially after the Pectra upgrade went live yesterday. To me, it kinda lays the groundwork for ETH and its whole ecosystem to finally start outperforming.

Quick recap of what Pectra brings:

  • Improved scalability
  • Lower gas fees
  • Gas can now be paid with different tokens
  • More incentives for validators

And if you connect the dots, this actually looks pretty bullish for ETH-based tokens too:

  • Most projects could start launching new LP pools to boost staking rewards.
  • That usually creates some unusual buying pressure — both on-chain and off-chain — and often that’s when prices get a nice push.
  • Plus, paying gas with multiple tokens? That’s gonna systematically burn more tokens over time. Less supply = potentially more value (at least in theory).

Personally, I feel like Ethereum DeFi is slowly getting back in shape. We’re seeing new projects like Obol Network popping up (new project I think, they just had their TGE 2 days ago and got listed on Bitget). I checked it out a bit, and it kinda reminds me of Lido, but with a DVT twist: they use distributed validation to make Ethereum’s PoS more resilient and avoid single points of failure.

So yeah… for me, ETH looks like it could surprise people this cycle. Especially now that Bitcoin dominance seems to have topped out recently ( +65%). Maybe it’s time for Ethereum to take back the spotlight? And maybe ETH DeFi isn’t as dead as some people say — maybe it’s just evolving.

What do you guys think? Are we heading into an ETH season? Or is BTC still too strong right now?
