Advice: Largish Transaction Seems to have disappeared, along with the Btc

Hey folks,

So I have a wallet from the tor based anonymouswallet that I've used for about a year now. Paid friends with it, made purchases with it, etc. It was a functional wallet. Never anything over like $200 though.

I decided I wanted to move into monero for payments and I was recommended cakewallet.

Rather than send over like .00001 btc to confirm it works, I just moved a couple grand over.

Thirty minutes pass… don't see it, then another hour passes, nothing. 2 Days later I don't see it. Now I'm on day something like 14?

I've checked the blockchain explorers and the anonwallet is reporting 0 balance (which is true) but NO transactional history (which is untrue). In addition, the destination wallet is also providing no transactional history.

Both wallets are now empty and my $1900 seems to be gone.

Good news is, if this is a $1900 lesson well, is what it is. I can afford the loss. But would rather know if there's any recourse I have, and you folks are the closest bunch I can think of to 'experts' who may have some suggestions for me.

So, thoughts?
