Is testnet participation now becoming a DeFi norm?

Recently. there has been a shift from ICO to tesnets participation. Most DeFi projects/protocols and L2 projects now take that route to sanctify their network and determine the efficiency of their protocols while rewarding participants. Even gaming projects on Ethereum have also taking same route.

Recent projects with successful testnets are Heroes of Mavia, Starknet, ZetaChain and a whole lot of others.

With this also becoming a another viable way of encouraging DeFi adoption, are we gonna be seeing testnets activities as a regular norm?
