Pros and cons of using crypto as a payment option
This thread's main purpose is to spark some discussion as to wether crypto can be a good payment option or not.
I've used crypto to pay for some stuff just a few times, so I can list some pros and cons myself.
Pros:
– Privacy: Each transaction is not directly linked to a personal identity.
– Fast Transactions: Some crypto movements are almost instant, this is even better for international transactions, also cheap costs are a plus there too.
– Global Utility: Cyrpto can be used anywhere, anytime, no need of a certain currency or geographic restrictions.
Cons:
– Volatility: Crypto prices flauctate wildly. Just see the case of our moons, price plummeted in just a few minutes.
– Limited acceptance: Very few places accept crypto as a payment option, this is a big limiting factor.
– Risk of loss: Just a tiny error in the transaction can mean a complete loss of the crypto sent. Transactions are practically irreversible, unlike fiat ones.
In my own conclusion, having the option to pay using crypto is fun, but I don't think it should or can replace fiat in that regard. Having options is nice. But I'd like to know what your opinion is on this!
