The founder of Uniswap is adding a 0.15% fee for swaps in all major coins, and they didn’t vote on it

As the title says the founder is now adding an extra 0.15% fee for major coins such as DAI. This decision didn't go through the usual governance process. Nobody voted on it.
The fee only applies to users that use the website app.uniswap.org instead of other interfaces. My guess is that they saw how much money metamask was printing and now want a piece of the pie.
It feels wrong to not go through the governance process for such a major decision. What's your opinion on this? Are they right to do this? Should they reverse the decision?
What's for certain is that uniswap competitors will benefit from this.
