I Don’t See Moons in a Good Position Long Term
With the massive backlash concerning 3rd party apps and the API’s change, I don’t see moons with a positive forecast. You can argue it’s a vocal minority of people announcing their departure from reddit, sure. But you can’t deny there are inherent problems with moons and this subreddit. I don’t feel obligated to post or make comments because why bother? People are stingy and downvote all the time. Fresh, actual useful information is shunned.
Reddit itself says moons have no value and I feel that they can rug-pull us by stopping moon distribution at any time. Massive selloffs and price tanking in the process.
If Reddit were to expand Community Points to other subreddits during this fiasco, it wouldn’t end well.
I really want to be proven wrong. I want Reddit to reverse their decisions, I want to be optimistic. This community is pretty great. I don’t want it to collapse because of a massive Reddit exodus.
TL;DR: Reddit killing 3rd party apps might cause an exodus and community points like moons might suffer from it.
