Cautious Reminder that Moons have heavily centralizing factors.

I know most active contributors here place a great deal of value in moons, some of us have over $10,000 worth of these community points currently. But in the wake of being more attentive against centralized exchanges, we must not fool ourselves and pretend moons have any significant difference.

First of all, yes, earning moons to use in governance is fun. But many moon farmers are thinking moons are just like Bitcoin or Ethereum or better comparison, Doge – that no sort of bad news could take its market value to plummet drastically in a single day. That there are no centralizing parties that can affect its value. I’m here to remind y’all that is not the case. Have fun with it, but please, don’t be surprised if something happens and moons get shutdown. Here’s the pressing centralization risks:

Moons are run by Reddit Admins. They have said time and time again that you should not rely on moons being here in the future. They may or may not be around after 10 years but you can’t rely on that!

Moons are also on mainnet on Arbitrum Nova, a centralized chain that can possibly freeze transfers in emergency situations. Moons are not censorship resistant.

While we know “Not your keys, not your coins.”, and “Know your exchange.”, we need to keep in mind of one of the first things to think about in cryptocurrency: “Centralization is a risk.”

Here’s the first line of the Terms of Use of Community Points:

Reddit does not guarantee that Community Points will be continually offered or will be available for any particular length of time.

Anyways, yes keep contributing to the discussions here. “Earn” moons. But, if you find yourself having any amount of moons you can’t help afford to lose in a improbable situation, assess that situation and adjust your moons accordingly. Just like you should only ever leave amounts on CEX that you can acceptingly let go of in another exchange fallout.
