Why did my exchange credit me with EthereumPoW?

They added the same amount I have in ETH. I pretty much understand what it is, but I don't know where it came from or why they'd add it to my account. I also don't understand how it can be the 62nd largest crypto currency according to CG. Surely it's just junk pushed by desperate miners?
