PSA: Your free Reddit NFT avatar is probably worth very little

I keep seeing people with The Singularity, Drip Squad, Meme Team, or Aww Friends avatars in threads asking how much their NFT avatar is worth. The answer is: probably less than $10. There have been millions of these dropped for free to Reddit users, so the only way yours is going to make you some good money is if you have a low mint number or a desirable series of numbers. Numbers such as 69696, 42042, etc. could make you quite a bit of money. Something like 123,222 could make you a little bit. The main reason I think the normal ones are selling for $10 right now is because many people haven’t gotten a free one yet and the secondary market is the only way they can get it.

The NFT avatars you see making the headlines because of huge sales are the avatars you had to buy. All of the very desirable ones are sold out and have been for a long time, but there’s still some left in the store. (To see the store, open up your profile menu and click Style Avatar.) These avatars are limited editions and are in editions of 100 – 1000 pieces, depending on the avatar. The avatars with less pieces cost more money (somewhere around $49.99) and the avatars with lots of pieces cost less ($9.99). The popular avatar B•E•N•O•T•A•F•R•A•I•D had 777 pieces and mint #1 sold for 8.5 ETH yesterday. The Hands had 100 pieces and #2 just sold for 15 ETH today!

If you want to try selling your avatar, you’ll need to import your vault wallet into MetaMask and add it to OpenSea. You’ll also need to have some MATIC for the minimal fees.
